I wonder if the American left might be less inclined to hamstring our response to terrorism if it came from that part of the world. For one thing, it would be hard see a response to white Eastern Europeans as “racist”, nor is that region generally seen by the left as a victim of American “imperialism” (unlike the Middle East), nor could our response be seen as tied to manipulation by the “Jewish lobby”. That’s taking some big stuff off the table for the left to object to.
