The female & male Hollies (Ilex) - dozens of cultivars and varieties - are flowering; the females get the red/orange/yellow/black berries, but both sexes flower and cross-pollinate.
Why have a press conference when nothing new happened?
Are they the same holly that is made famous around Christmas time?
Thanks for the foliage progress report.
Today’s been the first time in the last two or three weeks that it’s a) been above 30 degrees and b) hasn’t had at least light snow going on. No accumulation to speak of (other than the poor souls up in the hills, who are just getting hammered), but just enough snow and cold to just be nasty.
Trees and foliage around Montana? The only ones left alive after one of the winters we get don’t even bother to bud out until May.
I’m not complaining, I’m simply stating a fact. After 50 years living in it, griping about Montana weather is a job we just leave to the tourists.
Thanks for the purty pictures, though......
Beautiful!!
