Arrgh! After 8 hours of hard labor yesterday I got cleaned up & we took the 335 out for a drive out Hwy 20 E of Bend. Only high-desert and antelope out there. Had a great time - top down - 60 degrees, minimum traffic and it was a hoot. Got back into town and 1/2 mile from the house a couple of cars passed by going in the opposite direction. “Smack” like a rifle shot. One of the cars threw a rock (I’m still not sure how) and it hit the windshield on the drivers side. Didn’t crack but I’ve got two large pits. Very much a freak accident. I’m sick.
We had two products put on my wife’s X-1. One is the “Dura Shield” which is that invisible film that goes on the vehicle. Helps prevent rock dings on the cars body. The other product, which I’m not sure of the legitimacy or effectiveness, is called “Crystal Fusion” which is for the window. It’s a five hundred dollar treatment and this is from their website:
What Crystal Fusion Does for Your Windshield
Enables glass to resist costly chips and cracks
Night driving is easier, with reduced glare
Snow and ice are easier to remove
Cleaning is fast and effective
Protects against acid rain, corrosion and mineral buildup
Water runs off instantly
Improves clarity and visibility to extend driver reaction time
I have all season tires on the Toyota 4Runner. The tread picks up pea-sized stones like crazy. I pry them out with an old screwdriver, but it picks up more so fast. I am sure there are lots of stone slinger tires out there.
Well, I’ll be able to see the start, but then it’s off to church. Probably be back in time for the finish.
