Ricin is incredibly easy to make. You can buy castor beans from your local organic food store.
From beans.

Who is shown in the picture, is that him? There may not have been any ricin, often it’s powdered beans giving an initial positive reaction.
Not much of an attempt to conceal his identity, signing off with his initials on multiple letters.
Anyone can make it. Easier than popping popcorn.
And not a very bright one at that.
It would also be easy to frame him with the info on his facebook page.
What ricin is
Ricin is a poison found naturally in castor beans. If castor beans are chewed and swallowed, the released ricin can cause injury. Ricin can be made from the waste material left over from processing castor beans.
It can be in the form of a powder, a mist, or a pellet, or it can be dissolved in water or weak acid.
It is a stable substance under normal conditions, but can be inactivated by heat above 80 degrees centigrade (176 degrees Fahrenheit).
Where ricin is found and how it is used
Castor beans are processed throughout the world to make castor oil. Ricin is part of the waste “mash” produced when castor oil is made.
Ricin is easy to make from everything I’ve read.
In its simplest form its basically just a means of concentrating the extract from Castor beans.
It may be easy, but considering that a sand-grain sized particle of ricin can kill an adult, how many have survived making it ?

It’s not that tough. Get yourself some insecticide safety gear (gloves, mask, suit), do the cook outside, bleed off the oil, let the mash dry, harvest. So long as you keep half way decent barrier protocol perfectly safe.
