Can someone please cite this 90% number? Did this report check their Excel formulas like Reinhart and Rogoff did not?

Who knows where he gets his 90% figure, but all my liberal relations are citing it like it’s proof positive the republicans in congress are evil.

If I remember correctly, it was from a poll paid for by MSNBC and conducted by Quinipiac University (which happens to be located in Connecticut relatively close to Newtown). So it is suspect to begin with. Also the way the question was asked was vague, "Do you think background checks should be required for gun purchases?" Not about the Manchin-Toomey bill specifically....

It depends on how you phrase the question. I have no doubt that 90% think that psychotic mass murderers should be prevented from buying guns. The problem is that's not what Obama's pet legislation does. (Or would have done anything at all to stop Adam Lanza.)

90% of respondents agreed to "reasonable background checks on gun purchases" -- they did not agree to expanding existing checks (in fact, some may feel the current ones are unreasonable, but would still agree with the question as posed).

He pulled the 90% number out of his ass. It’s where he gets all his numbers.

Follow the links in the article.
The poll surveyed 1,772 registered voters from January 30 to February 4 and had a margin of error of plus or minus 2.3 percentage points, Quinnipiac said.

1,772 people represent the entire population of the United States, don'cha know...

the ninety percent is an out an out lie, my sis and I have parted ways over this, she buys it one hundred percent and says my views are “ugly” so I will stop all political discussions with her—typical Democrat be ess if you don’t agree with someone you attack them as “ugly”

Pretty sure is was 90% of 1,925 likely voters. Who just happened to be radical left wing extremist demokkkrat scumbag socialists who would like nothing better than to disarm the law abiding victims of the compromised states of America. Or maybe they had help from mikey mann and they used his hockey stick. Possibly they sacrificed a chicken or goat to come up with these numbers. If not, then the other 10% have sure bought a WHOLE lot of guns and ammo in the last few months. 500 rds .22lr for $149.00!!!!! WTF?

I saw one poll whose question was "Do you support background checks for firearms purchases?" That was it - nothing in that question about increasing or changing anything. Since that's the status quo of course you're going to get a high number, but to suggest that it indicates that 90% of American voters were behind this train-wreck of a bill is simply an outright lie.
