Without attribution or proof, this lead sentence accepts The Great Prevaricator's statement as truth and implies editorial agreement. This is horrible journalism. I expect this from the New York Times or Washington Post, not the Washington Times.
In fact, it's bad enough for the NRA to demand a correction.
