The United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers and Allied Workers is reportedly the first union to officially call for repeal of the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare. The health care law is prompting some serious buyers remorse in Big Labor, which worked hard on behalf of the administration to pass it:
The unions statement can be found here. The full text is below:
United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers and Allied Workers International President Kinsey M. Robinson issued the following statement today calling for a repeal or complete reform of President Obamas Affordable Care Act (ACA):
Our Union and its members have supported President Obama and his Administration for both of his terms in office.
But regrettably, our concerns over certain provisions in the ACA have not been addressed, or in some instances, totally ignored. In the rush to achieve its passage, many of the Acts provisions were not fully conceived, resulting in unintended consequences that are inconsistent with the promise that those who were satisfied with their employer sponsored coverage could keep it.
These provisions jeopardize our multi-employer health plans, have the potential to cause a loss of work for our members, create an unfair bidding advantage for those contractors who do not provide health coverage to their workers, and in the worst case, may cause our members and their families to lose the benefits they currently enjoy as participants in multi-employer health plans.
For decades, our multi-employer health and welfare plans have provided the necessary medical coverage for our members and their families to protect them in times of illness and medical needs. This collaboration between labor and management has been a model of success that should be emulated rather than ignored. I refuse to remain silent, or idly watch as the ACA destroys those protections.
I am therefore calling for repeal or complete reform of the Affordable Care Act to protect our employers, our industry, and our most important asset: our members and their families.
Is that a dog union?
Could this be the first of many dominoes to fall?
Too late fellas. Elections have consequences.
Oh, this is rich!
Schadenfreunde!
They’re just snippy that they didn’t get a waiver like the big unions.
The handlers of Obambi-the-sock-puppet will not let the sock puppet give in on this. They are still pulling his strings on everything.
Roofers union?
Go take a flying leap.
Welcome aboard.
I guess not the preferred union of the US Chamber of Commerce...as they are working to give Illegal Aliens ObamaCare....with the AFL-CIO
No, roofers are more like a drinking club.
Wait
You guys were all for this and now you’re against it.
Eat your peas.
Might as well demand impeachment.
Wouldn’t that be the Ralphers Union?
Worked on a job that had Roofer’s union Local 30(?) from Philly.
Never went on the roof alone. I was the owner’s rep and was inspecting their work. People were known to suddenly fall to earth from the roof on their jobs.
Nastiest group I ever encountered on a job site.
When are the f - - - - - g Union Members going to realize that elections have consequences. They all march in lockstep to their Union Bosses. They vote for who “the Union Man” tells the for whom to vote. They are a sad bunch indeed.
The roofers don’t have the wood to call for impeachment.
They’re “firing for effect” as it were.
When it comes down to contributing money and voting, they’ll be solid Dems all the way.
Buyers remorse.
