Public Service Reminder :

Why do people keep posting this false BO quote?
It's not what is in the book, at best it's a conflated quote and not particularly accurate as to exactly what was written.
For instance, BO only says "immigrants" and never says "Muslims".
People who keep posting this false BO quote make us conservatives look like the right-wing nutjobs that the MSM and liberals try to make us into.
Thanks

The actual quote from the book is from page 261 and is as follows:
"Of course, not all my conversations in immigrant communities follow this easy pattern. In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans, for example, have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. They have been reminded that the history of immigration in this country has a dark underbelly; they need specific reassurances that their citizenship really means something, that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during World War II, and that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."

"BO only says "immigrants" and never says "Muslims"."

You can't even read the quote you post!

"Of course, not all my conversations in immigrant communities follow this easy pattern..."

"...my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans, for example, have a more urgent quality... They {Arab and Pakistani Americans} have been reminded... they {Arab and Pakistani Americans} need specific reassurances... and that I will stand with them {Arab and Pakistani Americans}."

And those who know the full story of the Emperor worshiping Japanese in America at the time of Pearl Harbor would understand the internment policy of that era. But I won't hijack this thread for that discussion. For any reader who wants a concise summary, pickup Michele Malkin's "In Defense of Internment."

If Obama was around 70 years ago, of course he would have tried to keep all Emperor worshiping Shinto Japanese free - how better to attack the US.

I had errands to run, and seem to have missed the party in the interim.

Brent, your concern is touching I'm sure, however misplaced and hand-wringing it may appear.

Anyone with rudimentary knowledge of the instant circumstances surrounding the internment episode would also be aware of the very real security threat to west coast cities, infrastructure, and defenses at the time.

The fact that there were active Japanese spies and other fifth colum subversion is a matter of historical record.

Leaving aside for the moment those cases on the mainland, the Imperial Navy was kept abreast of all US Naval dispositions in/out of Pearl both pre- and post- Pearl Harbor by same.

While it's certain that many, if not most Americans of Japanese descent at the time were not acitively working toward our defeat, it's also certain that many a blind eye was turned out of deference to old loyalties.

With the benefit of hindsight and the luxury of time to chart the course, a more equitable and precisely targeted alternative to the 40s internment scenario could surely be devised.

But that most certainly does not negate the fact that there were thousands of people in this country, under color of citizenship, for whom loyalty to the Emperor superceded our Constitution.

In both words and actions, the traitor Øbama has made his base sympathies abundantly clear to anyone willing to see them.

The lackeys key pretty, reassuring, camouflage words into the teleprompter, the manchurian negro mumbles them out to a gullible welfare public, and the taqiyah just keeps rollin' rollin' rollin'.

I find your 'concern' to be woefully unconvincing, and your hair splitting above to be this thread's equivalent of the blind eye aforementioned.
