Tennessee Republican Rep. Marsha Blackburn will lead a House delegation to Britain to attend the funeral of former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher on Wednesday.
Announced by House Speaker John Boehners office Monday, the trip marks a culmination of Republican accolades for Thatcher following her death last week. Thatchers conservative policies and close relationship with President Reagan won her widespread support within the GOP.
Margaret Thatcher was one of the greatest champions freedom has ever known, and her funeral gives Americans and friends around the world an opportunity to pay final respects, Boehner said in a statement.
The delegation also includes Reps. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) and George Holding (R-N.C.).
Bachmann has long expressed her respect for Thatcher, going so far as to proclaim in an interview last year with USA Today that I want to be Americas Margaret Thatcher. I will be the next Iron Lady.

If Boner had any integrity he would have attended the funeral himself and would’ve gained a lot of support among conservatives.
They won’t miss him in the House.

Margaret Thatcher's Funeral Route
The funeral procession will set out from the Palace of Westminster with Baroness Thatcher's body carried in a hearse for the first part of the journey. The coffin will be trasferred to a gun carriage at the church of St Clement Danes on the Strand.
The funeral passes Downing Street, which is found on the left of the route along Whitehall.
At the RAF Chapel at the church of St Clement Danes on the Strand, Baroness Thatcher's coffin will be borne in procession to St Paul's Cathedral on a gun carriage drawn by six horses of the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery.
Once the procession leaves St Clement Danes, the route to St Paul's along Fleet Street and Ludgate Hill will be lined by more than 700 armed forces personnel from the Royal Navy and Royal Marines, F Company Scots Guards, 1st Battalion Welsh Guards, and the Royal Air Force.
There will be a Guard of Honour outside St Paul's as the coffin is transferred into the Cathedral by service personnel from regiments and ships closely associated with the Falklands campaign.

Can a Margaret Thatcher win in the USA today? Would the GOPe nominate either a Margaret Thatcher or a Ronald Reagan today?
To: DoodleDawg
Demographics is destiny. Neither Britain nor the US are the same countries they were in the 80s.

Surprised by some of the individuals invited.
However, I was really surprised by:
VIP invitations are white and those guests will be seated under the dome of the Cathedral...they have a red or green stripe which designates port or starboard.
Must be more sailors involved than any one guessed.
Safe harbor at last, Baroness

I read that you only go by invite and BHO and his wife didn’t get one.

Thank you!
Apparently the BBC is the only channel that will carry live & uninterrupted coverage, beginning at 9:15 a.m. London time (4:15 East Coast time).

I sure hope it’s the BBC America channel, cause that’s all I get.
Thank you so much for your research!

I know, same here! I guess I’ll set the DVR to BBCA and see what happens.
You’re kind, siamesecats, but the credit goes to SeekandFind. :)

But none of the Bushes will attend. It’s sad but not surprising since GW Bush joined the progressives in his 2nd term.

My TV says a replay on CSPAN at 4:15 PM, not AM real-time.

Did you mean GHWB? He’s barely hanging on himself. I doubt he’d survive a trip across the pond. Are any other former US presidents attending? (think of that security issue) Is a representative of the Reagan family attending? Michael would be the only one that would be appropriate IMO.

No, I mean GW Bush. Word I heard is that he’s not attending.
And I meant what I said: GW turned left in his 2nd term. Look at the illegal “immigration” crap that he tried to push through. Look at his bank bailouts. Abandoning free-market principles in order to save it, what kind of leftist progressive garbage is that?
