Friends and allies of Baroness Thatcher expressed ‘surprise and disappointment’ last night as it emerged President Obama is not planning to send any serving member of his administration to her funeral.
Whitehall sources have revealed that the U.S. delegation at tomorrow’s service in St Paul’s Cathedral will be led by two Reagan era secretaries of state: James Baker and George Shultz.
Though President Obama himself had not been expected to attend, there had been speculation that he would be represented either by Vice President Joe Biden or wife Michelle.
The Queen’s decision to attend Lady Thatcher’s funeral has effectively elevated it to a state occasion unprecedented for a political figure in Britain since the death of Sir Winston Churchill in 1965.....

He is probably waiting for the arrival of the Thatcher bust so that he can FedEx it back to the Queen.
That would be as entirely inappropriate as me attending the funeral of Jimmy Carter, amidst his family, friends, and supporters. Or mounting a mocking drunken celebration nearby.

As for the UK, that Maggie once saved from assured destruction...well, they have rejected the ugly truth for a few pretty lies. Nothing more to be done there.
Little can be done here, with an ignorant population, hell bent on following the exact same path.
Look at the US delegation that went to Chavez’s funeral. It would have been appropriate to send Biden, but his not going probably saved the tax payers a couple of million dollars.
Class will tell.
On the bright side, they won’t have to count the silverware and wine glasses after the Obamas leave.

Actually, I am quite pleased to hear that. The presence of anyone from the Obama regime at Lady Thatcher’s funeral would be an insult to her memory.
George H.W. and George W. Bush should attend.
