“...Paradise by the Dashboard Light...”
Written by Jim Steinman. His is the voice doing “Love Death and an American Guitar” on “Bat out of Hell.” That’s the bit that starts:
“I remember everything!
I remember every little thing
As if it happened only yesterday
I was barely seventeen,
And I once killed a boy with a Fender guitar...”
First I ever heard of Steinman was “The Dream Engine” in 1968 at Amherst College. Look for his name and it shows up all over the place, but his best stuff was the Meatloaf collaberation. His music has even been butchered bu Barry Manilow and Babs Streisand; talk about singers that can suck the life out of rock and roll!
No kidding!
Didn’t Steinperson (sorry, being PC!) also wrote Bonnie Tyler’s “Holding out for a hero?”
Cheers,
Jim
