I agree with that. In the cities around here a vertical surface isn't safe. What I couldn't figure out was what “Family Values Don’t Stop at the Rio Grande” is supposed to mean....

That’s a quote from candidate GW Bush back in 1980.

And what it meant is that Dubya had no intention of defending the border or enforcing American immigration law if he was elected.

His oath of office was going to be a mere pro forma ritual and he wouldn’t be bound by it.

And that is exactly how he behaved. If you remembered the various hints in his speeches you weren’t surprised to find Dubya trying to reward foreign national lawbreakers with amnesty.
