US Raises Nuclear Alert To DEFCON 3: China Mobilizes, Masses Troops On North Korean Border (Debka)

Friday, April 12, the US raised its nuclear alert status to DEFCON 3, Condition Yellow (out of 5 levels), stating “There are currently no imminent nuclear threats against the United States at this time, however the situation is considered fluid and can change rapidly.”

Many believe that North Korea will launch their test missile on or about April 15. Japan has instructed its armed forces to shoot down any North Korean missile that heads toward its territory.

Contrary to comments from the White House Thursday, the Pentagon reported that “North Korea probably has nuclear weapons that can be mounted on ballistic missiles.” This is a very significant admission by the United States and a dangerous change to the Korean situation.

China has mobilized its military and is massing near the border with North Korea.

This step was taken after North Korea placed a mid-range Musudan missile ready to launch on its east coast and its “dedication of more facilities at the Yongbon complex to nuclear weapons work.”

According to some sources in Washington, the Chinese military mobilization is not directed at deterring Pyongyang but as support for North Korea’s steps.

Late Thursday, Representative Doug Lamborn, a Colorado Republican, made a disquieting disclosure. He quoted an excerpt from a Defense Intelligence Agency report expressing “moderate confidence” in the finding that North Korea has nuclear weapons capable of delivery by ballistic missiles whose “reliability will be low.”

This disclosure raised a furor in the United States, bringing forth a White House response.

The director of national intelligence, James Clapper, released a statement saying that the assessment did not represent a consensus of the nation’s intelligence community [16 agencies in all] and that “North Korea has not yet demonstrated the full range of capabilities necessary for a nuclear armed missile.”

Pentagon press secretary George Little backed him up by saying: “It would be inaccurate to suggest that the North Korean regime has fully tested, developed or demonstrated the kinds of nuclear capabilities referenced in the passage.”

US Secretary of State John Kerry arrived in Seoul Friday. After meeting South Korean leaders, he travels next to Beijing and Tokyo.

In his first comment on the Korean crisis, President Barack Obama said Thursday that now is the time for North Korea to end its belligerence.

He said the United States will take ‘‘all necessary steps’’ to protect its people. But Obama also says that no one wants to see a conflict on the Korean Peninsula and would explore all diplomatic options for resolving the crisis.

Obama spoke alongside UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon after the two met in the Oval Office.

I think DUMBKA is confusing the Korea WATCHCON with DEFCON in their usual fumbling way.

If we were at Def-3 the whole DOD would know and everyone would be reporting it.

It’s not something that can be kept hush-hush. right?

Hey Kimmy Un! Thirty minutes out of Minot, and you're a crispy critter.

Come on Kimmy, you know 0bama will give you $10 million, five hookers, and a Lamborghini if you calm down.

Let's see, 300 kilo tons on about 6 targets should do the trick. Only problem is the radiation that will affect the Chicoms, Ivan and Japan.

China massing troops give the nutty statements of North Korea’s leaders a very serious cast. They could clean our clocks. Americans can only think in economic terms saying such gems as “China won’t attack” they would upset their economy.” China does not think in such terms.

Friday, April 12, the US raised its nuclear alert status to DEFCON 3, Condition Yellow...

In other back page news, one third of USAF fighter squadrons are getting their unit readiness status degraded to save flying hours because of the "sequester"...

Meanwhile, EBT/SNAP and multitudes of welfare programs are loaded to the brim and the federal govenment is advertising in Mexico for new customers...

...

Is it time yet, Claire?

China massing troops

There are a variety of false claims in the article besides the one about our DEFCON status.

One problem with DUMBKA, Wing Nut Daily, and to a lesser extent Bill Gertz is that evidence proving them wrong is often classified. They don't have nearly the accurate access to insider or classified information that their fans think; in the case of WND they are pretty much just making stuff up; for Gertz, he's very hit or miss; sometimes he does have accurate info and other times he's hilariously wrong.

For DUMBKA and WND, their modus operandi is to get page hits from excitable and stupid people with interesting, scary information, which is often a combination of false info with info they just grab from other news sources.

I’ve never actually seen Debka and WorldNetDaily in a comparison with Bill Gertz before now.

Ever.

I guess to some it is a surprise that in a capitalist society, the Media will say anything to make more money.

Conspiracy theory of the day.

The NKs and Obama admin have worked up this little ploy to show what a great leader Kim is, along with showing what a great war-time prez Obama is. A lot of talk and rhetoric but in the end, the NKs back down after Obama shows his other-wordly strength as the greatest president ever.

Maybe there is room on Rushmore...

According to some sources in Washington, the Chinese military mobilization is not directed at deterring Pyongyang but as support for North Korea’s steps.

It's to keep NK refugees the hell out of China after the retaliatory strikes collapse the NK government.

If China wanted to support NK, they would simply ask Kim to allow them to position ten of their own divisions within NK and near high-profile military targets. The world wouldn't dare retaliate against NK if China did that.

Contrary to comments from the White House Thursday, the Pentagon reported that “North Korea probably has nuclear weapons that can be mounted on ballistic missiles.” This is a very significant admission by the United States and a dangerous change to the Korean situation.

I wish I could find the Investors Business Daily link for this, but unfortunately this article from Israel National News is going to have to suffice.

What many have missed is the fact that in February, North Korea launched a missile that was capable of, and did in fact deliver a "package" into orbit around the earth.

Some in the INTEL community believe that North Korea has perfected a system the Russian's once tried making, a FOBS - Fractional Orbital Bombardment System capable of carrying out an EMP strike against the United States.

Once a FOBS is in orbit, it only takes detonating a low-grade plutonium bomb at the right altitude to release an EMP - a burst of gamma radation capable of knocking out the US electric grid either in whole, or knocking out a sufficient part of it.

Personally, I have no idea. I'm not in the intel community, but I've read enough about to tell me NK knows how to put a FOB up in space and detonate it. Not a difficult task for a nascent space-missile program like North Korea's.

I also think that China and Russia have given NK enough technology and are "poking the bear" using North Korea to try and lure the US into a proxy war.

After all, who benefits most if the US is hit by an EMP knocking our power grid back to the 1850's? China and Russia. China from an economic juggernaut perspective and Russia from a dominant military perspective.

IMO, China and Russia are behind all this with NK.

No, it couldn't.

DEFCON-3 is when we do massive personnel recalls, lock down DOD facilities and start putting live weapons onto a LOT of aircraft. Including loading nukes onto bombers.

And what’s worse is Obama Co. apparently think China is wavering on N Korea.

First off, China is not dependent on the US anymore. They have a gigantic internal market that is nearly as big as ours. And it’s growing fast. It’s not 2000. Their FDI in Latin American matches ours, and dwarfs ours in developing Asia and Africa.

More importantly, China will never tolerate U.S. troops on their border.

FOBS? LOL

Haven't heard that since the '70's. I've tried to explain it to friends, they've never heard of it. I used to read about it a lot.

Seems our society, frankly, has dumbed itself down. People aren't aware of a LOT of real dangers. You almost can't find mention of it in the literature, in fact. I'd wondered if George Orwell himself was re-writing the writings of nuclear policy analysts.

FURTHER...usconservative, I fully agree with you in that North Korea is nothing more than a Chinese poodle, perhaps also a Russian one, to distract the USA. Been thinking that for decades, now.

We need to make this hurt China. Yet, without triggering a war. Only then will they turn this insanity OFF.

I did not use “Debka” for the statement of China massing troops on the border with North Korea other news sources have reported the massing as fact.

Boy is America ever lucky to have Barack Hussein Obama in the White Hut at this time. Additionally, we’re extremely fortunate in having a Secretary of State as competent as John Heinz Kerry.

The US tips Russia off that the bombings were done by Israel and it should make one wonder what else is our ‘intelligence’ gang tipping Russia off to.

If earnest and swift action isn’t taken to remove this dangerous sociopath from the White Hut along with this gaggle of appointed morons then be prepared for the nuking of America.
