Yay!
But pro-forma statements, delivered under political duress, are not nearly enough.
I won’t soon forget the four states last election in which the Democrats pulled out every stop for their faux “marriage” agenda, while the Romney Republican Party COMPLETELY STOOD DOWN.
"If you don't practice (political) conservatism everyday;
You'll eventually become a Liberal"...RUSH LIMBAUGH
I guess it is only popular to the extent of what we see expressed in the public opinion polls. Today in Newsmax it was reported that according to the latest WSJ poll, the majority of Americans now support same sex marriage. Further, last November, for the first time, a number of states (all solid blue of course) did approve same sex marriage on ballot initiatives. Finally, although Prop 8 (defining marriage between one man and one woman) passed narrowly here in CA in 2008, I don’t think it would pass again, as the state has even moved even further to the Left since that vote was taken. Same sex marriage is now viewed by most in California as basic civil right and nothing short of sacrosanct.
I think approval is going in the wrong direction. We need to keep on fighting, but it may be inevitable. Their constant barrage on television sways the weak minded. Also, getting to the kids in school early is sick but effective.
What do you expect, people voted for gay marriage/romneycare Romney fell right into the Gop’s mindset/ they voted for this acceptance (not really, most were afraid of Obama). Some, even with fear, couldn't support Mitt's governance. Now, we see people in the base saying that if you change the platform on marriage; we are gone w/ no grassroots support. This is nothing more than remnants of having a northeastern liberal as the face of that party. Yes, to those who likes him, he knew business though the other things trumped him to win. So, now it's clean up and trying to pull them back as a party to where they need to be. People in this party have to stop trying to make others think that they are not a bigot or a racist. Stand your views to the party platform and move on. Most Libs will never see you other than being a bigot.
The age of family and nation first has been replaced by the age of pleasure first [hedonism]. Our politics of 'freedom' provides the fertile ground. 'We are free', 'We have rights' - We can do what we want. The 'common good' is passe. Legality has replaced morality. Sacrifice is stupid. Religion has forgotten sin. Man has triumphed. Life is good. I hope it doesn't end.
Right on Christie. Destruction of the family and our Judeo-Christian principles are a goal of the leftwingers.
Anyone that believes in the bible or is a Christian cannot expect a priest or preacher to unite gays in Holy Matrimony. I am not opposed to civil unions between gays but marriage is another ballgame.
Also, take note how much steam the secular movement is making in regards to traditional Christian holidays. Either we preserve America’s Judeo-Christian heritage or move towards Sodom and gommorah
As usual, the RNC is out of step with America and out of step with their rapidly shrinking base.
At this point, IMO, they have made themselves so irrelevant that I don't really think anyone cares!
They had better be “walking the walk” in addition to “talking the talk”—on both preserving REAL marriage and our rights under the 2nd amendment.
We are all past being fooled.
“.....Kirk already votes exactly like a Democrat anyway.”
******************************************************************
Really? Try comparing his votes (and voting record ratings by various conservative and liberal organizations) with those of the other Illinois Senator (Democrat Dick Durban).
Try to do some investigation before making unfounded statements about Republican you’d like to defeat and have replaced with a Democrat.
Hmmm. I could have sworn I specifically said "a Democrat", rather than specifically "Democrat Dick Durbin". There are numerous "moderate Democrats" with positions similar to Kirk, and is some cases even less liberal. Mark Kirk is to the left of many card-carrying Chicago Democrats on social isseus, for example. Hell, you want me to compare him to Durbin, even Durbin's record on abortion when he was a Congressman was much more conservative than "Republican" Mark Kirk's was.
>> Try to do some investigation before making unfounded statements about Republican youd like to defeat <<
Here's a little investigation you can do. Ask ANY voter in America to correctly identify they party affiliation of a U.S. Senator who:
has an F- rating from the NRA, a 100% rating from Planned Parenthood (including voting YES in favor of partial birth abortion), is rated MORE LIBERAL than Obama on environmental issues by the Sierra Club, opposed the surge in Iraq, supports gay marriage, supported Elena Kagan for SCOTUS, is obsessed with spending more money on "embryonic stem cell research", voted AGAINST making the Bush tax cuts permanent, voted for Cap n' Trade, voted NO on ANWR drilling, voted NO on allowing school prayer, co-sponsored signing on to UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, sponsored the federal hate crimes bill, voted YES to approve a $140,000 earmark for ACORNs New York office, voted YES to expand the State Childrens Health Insurance Program, OPPOSES Arizonas crackdown on illegal immigration, and accepted $1,000 from Obama's pal Tony Rezko in 2008.
I guarantee you that 95% of the voters would assume a Senator with that type of record is a Democrat. I just described Mark Kirk's record 100% accurately.
>> and have replaced with a Democrat. <<
Nice job putting words in my mouth. I want Kirk replaced with a conservative Republican, not a "Democrat". Though I'm sure you'd happily support any Democrat in the Senate right now if they put an "R" next to their name, since you have no problem when Kirk votes like them.

The GOP is running a smoke screen on us, the old slight of hand trick that magicians use to divert the audience attention from what really is going on, i.e. amnesty, the gun grabbing, and in your face totalitarianism.
I’m not attempting to imply that Kirk is a conservative by any means. And I wouldn’t want to recommend him as a prom date.
However there are some votes (such as when picking the Senate Majority Leader or protecting US sovereignty - http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3007232/posts ) where I’d much rather have him as a Senator from Illinois than have another Democrat replacing him and voting like Dick Durbin. In the very strong Republican year of 2010, Kirk won his Senate seat with less than a majority of the vote (thanks partially to a Green Party candidate).
So, on the RINO removal front, I’m saving my ammunition, time and very limited funds to devote to efforts to get rid of Senators such as Lindsey Graham where we could almost certainly replace the RINO with a true conservative after that conservative defeated the RINO in the primary.
What I’m looking forward to in 2014 is for conservatives to be able to say “mission accomplished” upon the removal of Harry Reid as Senate Majority Leader. I just don’t like to see things that are counterproductive to those efforts advanced—particularly things that cause us to take our eyes off of the prize.
I want a conservative party.
If they’re really serious, they’ll pull ALL support for marriage-trashing RINO’s - committee positions, campaign funding, everything.
Until they demonstrate their seriousness, they’re just a bunch of liars.
And they show no sign of changing.
