BBC Chief Refuses To Ban Margaret Thatcher Death Song The BBC is at the centre of a new row over the death of Baroness Thatcher after admitting it may broadcast a song mocking her passing.

While Lord Hall believes the campaign is 'rather tasteless', he has told staff that it is ultimately an 'editorial decision' 11 Apr 2013

Ding Dong the Witch is Dead, a song from the Wizard of Oz, has sold 20,000 copies this week after anti-Thatcher campaigners encouraged people to buy it to celebrate the death of the former Prime Minister. It is currently number four and on course for a place in the top five by the time The Official Chart Show airs on Sunday, three days before Lady Thatcher’s funeral.

The decision on whether to broadcast the song is the first test for new Director-General Lord Hall, who started in the £450,000-a-year post last week. Friends of Lady Thatcher said the corporation would be guilty of a “serious dereliction of duty” if it aired the song.

While Lord Hall believes the campaign to make the song number one is “rather tasteless”, he has told staff it is ultimately an “editorial decision”.

Lord Hall has passed the decision to Ben Cooper, the Radio One controller who is paid £168,000-a-year, and his fellow executives at the station.

The row comes after the BBC was attacked over its coverage of the death of the former Prime Minister, with critics accusing the corporation of giving undue prominence to her political opponents.

Lord McAlpine, a former Conservative Party treasurer and long-standing friend of Lady Thatcher, said he was “absolutely astounded” that the corporation was even considering broadcasting the song.

Just when decent people think liberals have reached the very lowest imaginable level of behavior, they prove us wrong. Liberals disgust me. I suspect the only reason they ever act better than guards in the Gulag or at the concentration camps is because they are waiting until they think they can get away with even more.

I remember once being told that Britain was synonymous with class being cause of the peoples behavior, always prim and proper. But now I recognize that that person was incorrect, instead of being synonymous with class it is actually ASS!

Public servant!

In California’s Alameda County, a commissioner retires on nearly 1$m of retirement per month.

Liberals = The race to the bottom of the depths of human depravity.

Liberals/socialists/fascists/communists are the quintessential worst that can come from any society. They are the modern day equivalent of the warlords and tyrannical rulers of previous civilizations.

The only way to defeat them is to fight them on our terms, not theirs.

I find it offensive that British leftists would appropriate this song for this purpose.

England has gotten close to the bottom. Can they sink any lower?

What an embarrassment.

Ding Dong! The Witch is Dead! recorded by Glenn Miller & His Orchestra in 1939, was written by Harold Arlen, who also wrote this tune about psychotropic recreational drugs.

I'd like to suggest that Conservatives retaliate by buying The Sun Has Got His Hat On.

I'd love to see the BBC defend its exclusion from the playlist (see lyrics linked above) - particularly as it was originally recorded by a BBC orchestra.

Few here would take heed of the definitions of various classes of society by Karl Marx. I would offer that Marx who lived untroubled in London knew how the system of that country worked. A potentially dangerous group was the "Lumpen Proletariat". To paraphrase Marx.

who exist outside the wage labour system, such as beggars, or people who make their living through disreputable means:prostitutes and pimps, swindlers, carnies, drug dealers, bootleggers and bookmakers, but depend on the formal economy for their day to day existence. (Wikipedia)

It is now over 130 years since Marx died. How to control such people? Organized they could pose a very nasty threat. Orwell(1984) was able to identify one means and very effective it was. A "hate figure" was created. The anger and frustration of the mob was then channelled. There was a "hate week". Having vented their hate on "Goldstein", the proles could then go back to their misery and cheap gin.

For years George W. Bush has been a hate figure in that country, even though he has long gone. Now it is "Thatcher" the evil one. What I have written is, of course debatable. Only that I observe the left in both America, Canada and in my native country England.

Suddenly the media and others pick on a figure they wish to destroy. People then spit out invectives about decent ordinary citizens. A hate figure has been created. Again I ask to be excused this ramble, but in the name of decency and I will use the cry of the liberals against them.

Have you no shame?

Lady Margaret Thatcher was too good for this earth. And unless we hear some voices in U.K. raised in protest against these outrages following her passing, and some voices praising her for what she did for Britain, then the proof is in that the Brits didn’t & don’t deserve her, not ever and not at all!

Lady Thatcher and Ronald Reagan are sharing a laugh over the stupidity that reigns here below.

BBC can’t win on this one. It would be broadcast on a regular weekly show when all that week’s top 10 sales are played. Omit it, and it’s censorship. Play it, and there’s outrage. That’s the sort of dilemma Tony Hall (a very good man, by the way) is paid his 450k to sort.
