As they perused the well-stocked aisles of their local shop, the wealthy residents of Highland Park were charmed by the polite and handsome young man behind the counter.
They had no idea, however, that this former high school American football star was upholding a family tradition that began 100 years ago in the English town of Grantham, some 5,000 miles away.
Michael Thatcher, the only grandson of the grocer’s daughter who became the world’s most powerful woman, now serves customers at a store and pharmacy in Texas.
Like his great-grandfather Alfred Roberts before him, Mr Thatcher works long shifts while serving as a committed Christian and conservative in his free time. After graduating from Texas A&M University in Chemistry, the subject Lady Thatcher read at Oxford in the 1940s, the 24-year-old now hands out prescriptions along with the snacks, cosmetics and greetings cards on offer.
His sister Amanda, meanwhile, also appears to harbour Thatcherite ambitions. Graduating from school last year, the 19-year-old was voted most likely to “change the world” by her peers.

Are these kids from Carol or her twin, Mark....Mark WAS apiece of work....maybe he’s changes.....hope they are Carol’s. Anyone know??
Michael Thatcher has sort of a Clark Kent thing going on.

Biblical verses took prominent place in the yearbook entries for both grandchildren as they graduated in recent years from the private Highland Park High School. Their mother has donated thousands of dollars to Republican candidates and sits on the board of an anti-abortion campaign group. “
Wow awesome to know the Iron Lady’s blood run deep when it comes conservative value and anti-commie. I think this young man will have a bright future. Also it gives me a little bit of hope that maybe not all is lost. Maybe it will be him and his generation of conservative will rise up in the end after ODumbo leaves (that is if he ever leaves)
It's not a crucifix. It's a cross. They are common in Dallas at Easter, as many of the larger protestant churches participate in the project.
And they got that wrong, as well.

Since their last name is “Thatcher” one must assume they are Mark’s children, but he is divorced and the young people live with their mother in the U.S.

Detroit Lions QB Matt Stafford went to HS there...wonder if he and the young Mr Thatcher were there at the time
Stafford’s 25, and it’s a 4 year high school, so they have to have overlapped, if they weren’t in the same class. Surprised they didn’t try to tie in John Hinkley (he went there, as well, a generation earlier).
