I don't know. "You can dish it out but you can't take it" is an objection people often make. If you can more or less take it, are you always justified in dishing it out?
What concerns me more is people asking why McCain didn't go after Bashir. It's because Coulter got in the way and made it about the McCains and herself.
I don't suppose Meghan McCain would go after Martin Bashir publicly if this hadn't happened, but she's more than justified in responding to Ann Coulter.

The end-result of her crass bomb-throwing is that sicko Bashir’s offensive comment gets shoved aside and marginalized by her own over-the-top “witticism,” and by personalizing the whole thing, that idiot blobgirl McCain once again gets the media spotlight (which she so craves) to play victim.
