LOL! That’s a great story. It’s always such a delight when something that happens on these threads triggers a memory of our pasts, and is then shared with us all. For me, it’s one of the rewards of participating in the FReepathons.

My mother made us dresses and skirts with matching blouses one year, of a very sturdy but soft cotton. They all had some kind of pattern, but I don't recall what. After that year, I don't think that she had the time or energy. That was just prior to babies #6 and #7.
My sisters and I loved those clothes.

LOL! I’d be tempted to sew him something with it for Christmas. :) That would be a Christmas no one would ever forget!

Odd how circumstances can make people believe things that they rejected before. :-)

Aw, that’s so sweet. Big Family!!! My Mother made all my clothes, because we were poor. Her sister worked at a handkerchief factory, so many of mine were actually made from handkerchief material, but nobody knew,(or at least I don’t think they knew).

Handkerchiefs were once made of very nice fabric. I have a small collection of cotton handkerchiefs, which I accumulated back when I was running. I always liked the feel and texture. It’s not so easy to find pure cotton these days.

Right. IIRC, my dresses were made from very nice fabric and some were colorful with sweet patterns. Thankfully, we were only very poor until I was about age 10. After that, I remember I got “some” store bought clothes, and lots of hand-me-downs from very well-to-do first cousins, particularly the cousin from Santa Monica, who’s Mom shopped at Bullock’s Beverly Hills. :)
