The Space Race (to the moon) is over.

We won.

I see that you had the same trouble making any kind of logical connection between the premise and conclusion in just about every sentence spoken by Bolden.

Yep. Essentially, he claims that manned exploration will endanger the manned exploration program. The Obama administration is truly living in Opposite World.

It’s on again, and you don’t want the USA to compete?

Ever heard the admonition against resting on one’s laurels . . . ? It’s not the same spirit that the USA had when going to the moon.

That’s OK. The Reds in China have experience letting starving mouths starve to death, and they will send men to the moon on the bones and blood of the starved.

Well my collection of moon walker autographs will certainly go up in value. I NEVER thought on that day in 1969 that I would live to see the first and last Americans on the moon.
Maybe when the Chinese set up their permanent moon base this country will finally get a clue.

NO we would have won if we had stayed and built a permanent presence on the Moon. You won’t feel that way when the Chinese have their base on the Moon.

Old News.

Obama made that decision when he entered office, and enforced it when he ordered Bolton to lay off the entire Lunar workforce on June 19, 2010. After all, it was known as “Bush’s go to the moon program (on the way to Mars)”.

Clearly, they are too busy helping muslims apporeciate their contributions to the world. Aside from religious tyranny and committing murder in the name of Islam, I haven't seen any of their "contributions". Obviously, NASA is digging deep to find any, as well.

We can’t afford to send humans to the moon.

Anything that can be done by humans in space could be done by automated systems.

Who are “we”, and by what yardstick? We can afford million-dollar bus stops and limitless expansion of the food stamp program, but can’t afford to send humans to the moon (but a NASA Muslim outreach is just fine) . . . ain’t that funny. If I wanted the liberal propaganda line, I would have tuned into MSDNC.

We need to cut spending.

No expensive bus stops, no welfare, no man to the moon.

NASA is gonna get $100 million to lasso an asteroid.

That's the next big project.

This could be done by private entrepreneurs. SpaceX will be lowering the cost of launches significantly when they get reusable stages. Bigelow has already designed space station modules cheaper than the ISS which can be used on the moon. Get Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin involved for some hardware, and the three could start out a lunar base.

Bolden is a run-of-the-mill naval aviator who has done nothing significant. His awards are very routine-- not even a bronze star or silver star. Just VN era Air Medals which are a dime a dozen, frankly. Oh but I forgot to mention, he's Black.
