While the early atom bombs and EMP effects were significant, although the electronics and technology were of a primitive state, comparatively speaking) rarity and stage of development that they were far less susceptible to EMP, research since then has focused on those incidental effects, and learned to concentrate on the EMP effect itself.

As the world of electronics has become like water to us, yet at the same time almost designed to be susceptible to EMP effects, the world has been working on how to extract the EMP effect from the building and people destroying effect of the nuclear weapons.

There is a lot of disagreement about how much of an effect, but we know that it will be significant, we know that many nations are developing weapons based on the effect, and that America itself is making big advances in that area of technological warfare, which is strong evidence that EMP must be real.

In fact we know that it is real, we just don’t know the variables of the weapons, delivery, various electrical systems and at what level, distance, etc. and so on.

I agree and I would add that the threat also includes a natural occurring E3 event.

I am currently reading The Sun Kings. The Carrington event had caused extensive damage to the US and European telegraph systems. During the event, operators died and there were reports of rail tracks arc welding together. The telegraph system was primitive by today's standards, however it began the radical transformation of the world. A good read is The Victorian Internet.

We are very vulnerable today compared to then. The cascading failures today would quickly return the US to a very medieval standard of living. That is actually an optimistic prediction. The stone age is probably more likely. We can thank Murkowski for leaving us completely vulnerable.

Life would have been extremely difficult with loss of communications, however we could of at least brought power back for reconstruction.

Thank you. I would be interested in the chants you are using though.
