Of great concern is that, as soon as Obama signs it in June, he will ignore the senate and start passing anti-gun executive orders right, left and sideways, using the US *signing* as an excuse.
The scurrilous idea is that “Not all parts of the treaty are really ‘treaties’, so don’t need the approval of the senate.”
This is the same corrupt thinking by which he appointed recess appointments while congress was in session, and carried out several other dictatorial decisions, “because congress has failed to do so.”
He doesn’t care if this is challenged in federal court, because that will take a long time, can be appealed if he loses, could be a clear win if the judges agree with him; and finally, he can ignore the federal courts and do it anyway, correctly estimating he can get away with it.
UN = Dangerous at every turn.
Don’t worry: there are a lot of Democrats from conservative states who will be in tough elections. This will never pass. :)
