Wesley Snipes is a free man...kind of.
The actor and producer was released from prison this week, according to TMZ, but he will remain on house arrest until this summer.
The 50 year old was serving a three-year-sentence in Pennsylvania for failing to file his federal income tax returns. Snipes began his sentence on Dec. 9, 2010.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons told TMZ Snipes was released on April 2 and will be under house arrest until July 19.

If you believe in our income tax, and trade four chickens for a pig, you’ve traded, but gained nothing.
If you believe in our income tax, and trade four chickens for forty dollars, you’ve traded, and yet made an income of $40.

If you believe in our income tax, and trade four chickens for forty dollars, youve traded, and yet made an income of $40.Neither of those is a correct statement of tax law. In your first example, your gain (or loss) is the fair market value of the four pigs (measured on the day of the trade) minus your cost for acquiring the chickens. In the second example, your gain (or loss) is $40 minus your cost for acquiring the chickens. If either of those is a positive number, it's gross income.

If you perform skilled work for yourself, there’s no income tax. You’re not a wage slave and the hourly rate can be high even if one is not the most efficient.

Wow, you’re some libertarian!
If person a trades person b for item 1 in exchange for item 2, there could be income depending on whatever exchange rate you believe in.
Yikes.

The income tax is completely voluntary. The government breaks the law to enforce this phony tax. If one files and the government thinks the amount in incorrect, they will get you for tax evasion. If you say you were compelled to file, the government will respond that the tax return was filed voluntarily. If you don't file, the government will try to put you in jail by saying one is required to file. The government has been getting it both ways and it is time to stop their criminality on this issue.

The day I get to deduct my rent, my food, and all the other costs associated with living in exchange for my wage (which would yield an income of zero) is the day you’ll have a point.

Wow, youre some libertarian!I was not posting what I, as a libertarian, think our tax laws should be. I was posting, as a lawyer, what our tax laws currently are. Two very different things.

Think how the world has changed around him while Snipes was in prison.
He once saw an automobile when he was a kid. Now, they're everywhere.
