Not surprised by this move, especially with inflation. Keen marketing really. People have been used to pay XX for a ‘pork chop’ for decades but inflation is pushing the prices so high, people are noticing the difference. Change the cut a bit and rename it and the price association in people’s minds won’t be there.

Stuff like this also happened during pricing freezes where butchers created new cuts to not fall under the frozen prices of the old cut.

We're not as dumb as they think...

They could leave the label off....I'd never mistake pork for beef or chicken...

If you are referring to "We" as in people here, you are right. But for the population as a whole, well, have you seen the ratings for this show?

It reminds me of when they renamed the “USDA good” grade of meat “USDA select.” Didn’t fool me.

Most likely raising the price $1 per pound also.

A pork chop is a pork chop is a pork chop.

And a lamb chop is a lamb chop is a lamb chop.

Most of these names have been around longer than we have. Good grief, what a dumb and confusing idea.

Did they rename pork rectums to something more savory?

Dumbing down everything. Some of us actually were not “confused” by the names. Now that we are going to diversify meat cuts to the same names between animals, I wonder what the drum sticks are going to look like on a cow. (Or do I have to say beef)

Change the language. That will change the traditions, change the morals and change the government/country.

What an Evil socialism is!

Changing the names of meat is just more dumbing down of the people.

What a steaming pile!

Who in the south buys pork? We've got so many ferals down here that you can get all the pork you want, if you have the skillsets.

How about just having a picture of a pig on the package with an arrow pointing to where it comes from. That way they won't need to come up with Spanish names for the parts for all of Juan McCain's new amigos.

Two years of polling Obama voters.
