The initial grounding was a minor incident and the ship could have been saved. The skipper and officers are being hung out to dry. However, let's face it, any grounding is is usually a life sentence in a dweeb job w/o promotion.
PS: My yachting pals will be the first to tell you I am a passed master at running aground. As an expert I can advise our Navy that I would recommend running aground in the Gulf of Mexico, rather than on those granite ledges in the Gulf of Maine. Ouch, baby!
