Atlanta School Teachers Are Being Prosecuted Like They're Mobsters (Boo Hoo!)

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has posted mug shots of 35 educators booked for allegedly colluding to raise standardized test scores.

A 73-year-old principal, a middle school secretary, elementary school teachers, and other school workers are accused of being behind the nation's biggest cheating scandal.

Prosecutors are going after them under a racketeering law originally enacted to target the mafia, and they face prison time for allegedly changing students' test scores. Many of the teachers had bonds of $1 million or more that they had to argue to get lowered to six or five figures.

The scathing indictment of mostly black teachers has sparked allegations of racism from the Concerned Black Clergy and a prominent former mayor, The New York Times has reported. Rev. Timothy McDonald, a spokesman for Concerned Black Clergy, called the indictment "overkill" at best.

“Look at the pictures of those 35,” he told the Times. “Show me a white face. Let’s just be for real. You can call it racist, you can call it whatever you want, but this is overkill. We have seen people with much deeper crimes with much less bond set.”

It's clear prosecutors meant to send a strong message by arresting so many teachers after a sting

(snip)

Former Atlanta Mayor Shirley Jackson, like the Concerned Black Clergy, has rushed to the teachers' defense and accused the media of unfairly skewering them.

"Yes cheating is awful," she writes on her blog. "And so is conviction before a fair trial. I believe every accused person deserves a fair trial under a set of laws that promises to be just and balanced. I don’t support public hangings. It is barbaric."

Jackson added, "Prosecutors, judges and jurors make mistakes and overreach."

These clowns will scream racism to matter what. The NAACP is trying to get Obama to step in and stop the “racist emergency manager law” in Detroit. Never mind the fact that the emergency manager himself is Black.

In fact the emergency manager (also black) for Detroit schools fired the white interim superintendent and 5 other school board members the other day.

In Stockton California it looks like it was primarily middle aged white women who have led that city to collapse.

95% of blacks give the rest of blacks a bad name

And the sad thing about that is that it is not a matter of genetics...it is a matter of the culture that is being spread in their community. This is the lie that Obama and the Liberals are spreading.

They are teaching their children that they are inferior and must cheat to get ahead.

Nothing is further from the truth.

They must teach their children to fight to achieve, to get a ahead. Fight honestly to claim their position in the civilized world.

If you fight honestly...you cannot ultimately lose. In fact, by their effort, they have won.

HISTORY OF APS

Established by ordinance of the Atlanta City Council, the Atlanta Public Schools (APS) opened three grammar schools and two high schools in 1872 to educate the youth of the city. These openings brought the total number of schools offering free education to the city’s children to seven, as the Freedman’s Bureau had established two schools for “Negro” children in 1866.

The primary objective of the district has not changed from those early days. In the 21st century, APS has a renewed focus on student success, and strives to prepare every child for the future through effective and innovative teaching that meets the needs of the individual learner. Families, teachers, students and the community are encouraged to fully participate in the educational process that offers rigorous academics, relevance to everyday life and builds strong relationships among students, peers, and adults.

Notable APS Students
Martin Luther King, Jr. (civil rights leader)
Truett Kathy (founder of Chick-Fil-A)
Maynard Jackson (1st African-American Mayor of Atlanta)
Judge Glenda Hatchett (television celebrity)
Charlayne Hunter-Gault (civil rights leader, journalist)
Johnny Isakson (United States Senator)
Louis Johnson (Tuskegee Airman)
Harrison Jones (former president of Coca-Cola Co.)
John Portman (millionaire architect)
Herman Russell (construction mogul)

No, they are all pretty old. One thing I noticed in my exposure to public education is that there aren’t many mediocre teachers. They are usually either gifted in some way, or they really suck. Unfortunately, for the children that are forced to suffer them, those really bad teachers are only well versed in one thing. That is the protections built into their contract.

This crime was organized against the children, wasn't it?
The Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, commonly referred to as the RICO Act or simply RICO, is a United States federal law that provides for extended criminal penalties and a civil cause of action for acts performed as part of an ongoing criminal organization. - Wikipedia

How much did the typical teacher receive as a ‘bonus’ for the bogus test scores?

They said Ms Hall received a percentage of contract, was it the same percentage for the teachers?

Timeline of the Atlanta cheating scandal. As much as I dislike the AJC I have to give them credit for starting the investigation.

"News from inside the jail. The end of the video gives a quick summary of how much money Beverly Hall was making."

Have I got these numbers correst?

$344,000 yearly salary and $580,000 in bonuses over the last ten years.

That's a crime in itself.

This country is doomed!!

No white faces???

It's black racism. When the superintendent decided to engage in a conspiracy to profit from cheating, she didn't trust any white folks to be part of the conspiracy.
