North Korea warns nuclear war on America could break out "today or tomorrow"

In response President Obama ordered a ballistic missile defence system be moved to the nearest U.S. military base to the rogue state

North Korea dramatically escalated tensions with America tonight by warning it had approved nuclear strike plans.

"The moment of explosion is approaching fast," the North Korean military said, warning that war could break out "today or tomorrow".

In response, President Obama ordered a ballistic missile defence system be moved to the nearest U.S. military base to the rogue state.

The U.S. defence system will move to Guam, the nearest American military base to North Korea, 2,000 miles south east of Pyongyang in the Pacific Ocean.

U.S. defence secretary, Chuck Hagel, said: “Some of the actions they have taken the last few weeks present a real and clear danger and threat to the interests of our allies starting with South Korea and Japan.

“Also there have been threats the North Koreans have leveled at our base in Guam and Hawaii.”

Not to scare people worse, but I sat in Senate hearings on the Taepodong program and our BMD capabilities in 1995. I sat there and heard a sitting Senator dismiss the whole strike on the US scenario saying it would never happen and strategic BMD was a colossal waste of money. Someone responded that we didn’t know what the world would like like in a decade. Now we are 18 years later. And exactly the scenario of a limited NORK strike threat is upon us. I’m just happy we gave BMDO what we did to develop and deploy what we have now by shoving it down Clinton’s throat - which could be far greater had it not been totally sabotaged by this WH the last 4 plus years and repeatedly undermined from within during the Clinton era.

Nope. No President is going to fire the first shot. I would be willing to bet they don’t even fire the second shot.

All of the folks talking about “nuking” North Korea are video game warriors with the slightest idea of the consequences.

Today, so far as I know, not one American has been killed there in years.

Let the little dog bark.

I remember someone saying years ago that the biggest mistake Josef Stalin ever made was in assuming that in dealing with Adolf Hitler, he was dealing a rational human being.

We could debate whether Stalin was psychopathic - in my view, he was - but I would not consider Stalin “irrational”.

Stalin was completely rational, and absolutely lacking in anything even vaguely approximating normal human morality.

Stalin saw himself as a farmer, and he saw the Soviet Union as his farm. The human population of the USSR were his livestock.

As long as his purposes were served by keeping them alive, Stalin did what he could to keep them alive. When it became inconvenient to keep them alive, he let them die. Any of his "farm animals" that troubled him were killed. If he had to kill one, he killed one. If he had to kill a million, he killed a million.

He had no more qualms about killing a million Russians than the manager of a large-scale chicken farm has about culling a million chickens if some contagious virus infects the flock. It's an inconvenience... that's about it.

I read somewhere that an Kremlin insider who was part of Stalin's inner circle said that - at least after WWII was settled - the subject of every single meeting at which Stalin was present was this: to solve such-and-such a problem, whom do we kill?

William F. Buckley made the argument that Josef Stalin was the richest man in history. He owned the entire Soviet Union, and his feeling toward it was the same as the way you feel about your car keys.

That’s the bench of the Louisville “men’s” basketball team reacting to one of their starters breaking his leg.

Doesn’t Kim know that the “destruction” of America is Obama’s job #1?

Saber rattling for US handouts. Their crops and food supplies are really, really bad. China has stopped helping them out on critical items. They’ve had real bad harvests the last few years.

Who was it that sent them a train loaded with food and the norks kept the train as well?

I’m thinking that Dennis Rodman carried a message from our leader when he visited NK. The blustering and threats sure picked up since then.

Yes, the plan seems to be working. Now all we have to do is send in Pee Wee Herman to finish them off.

My comment was a "tad" tongue in cheek, as Santorum was accused of being too aggressive (or nutz?)

Fair enough.

That being said, what would your advice be in this regard?

I don't have any...I don't know what the right thing to do is. Hopefully someone with better information than I have is making those decisions :)

A few mis-aimed missiles and a big “I’m sorry” should undermine the ROK army and our ally, South Korea!

When I was the our Officers told us we could expect 10,000 artillery shells per minute to hit Seoul. Yes, per minute.
