Her life has been filled with violent episodes but I think it was a while ago that the home intruder event happened. Her late mother always enjoyed having guns around and after a boyfriend’s assault even gave the daughter one and the name of a hotel where she had heard her attacker was drinking. Maya took the gun and went to the hotel but fortunately for her (and us) didn’t have the nerve to follow through.
