He shot a kid for swimming in his pool? That seems a bit extreme. Was he prosecuted?
Carl Rowan was tried but the jury was deadlocked; the judge declared a mistrial and he was never retried.

Yes... the kids jumped his fence in the middle of the night and he claims he ‘warned’ him he had a gun but the kid advanced on him and he shot him in the wrist.
The kid said he was standing by the pool in his underwear, Rowan came out, shot at and hit him, then went back into the house to hide.
The kid and his girl friend did Community service and Rowan ended up in a mistrial....
It was a ‘popular sport’ for teens from Bethesda to go to NW DC and the ‘upper neighborhoods’ and do ‘pool hopping’(?)
The fact that it was ‘known’ this activity was going on made it all the more ‘strange’ that Rowan would open fire in his back yard.
Rowan was charged with improperly owning a gun in DC but fought if by saying he didn’t legally ‘own’ it as it was a his sons and his son was authorized to own one.
