While the Supreme Court heard arguments regarding the legalization of gay marriage this week, some of the biggest companies in the world risked isolating its conservative consumer base to come out in loud support of marriage equality.
Brands from Bud Light to Martha Stewart Living riffed on the Human Rights Campaign red equal sign that has gone viral on Facebook.
Although the image of Paula Deen riding the symbol with the caption "It's like two sticks of butter, y'all" that has been going around is clearly a parody, many other companies have created legitimate social media campaigns to show their unabashed support for the cause.
1) Bud Light re-created the red equal sign a symbol of people's support of marriage equality that has taken over Facebook newsfeeds with two cans of Bud.
The company has received a lot of Facebook hate, but it doesn't care.
2) Martha Stewart Living decided to spread the message with cake.
3) Expedia changed its cover photo to the popular image linked to marriage equality advocacy.
Here's the Expedia ad about how a father overcame his prejudices to travel to his daughter's lesbian wedding last fall.
"I told her, this is not the dream I had for my daughter," Artie Goldstein said. But the journey to the wedding and experiences with his new daughter-in-law opened his mind and heart.

When in Seattle I had a lot of homosexual acquaintences. Most of them were pretty normal guys, actually, though the homosexual women were almost all kinda weird. But all of them - every single one - had some really sad stuff in their childhoods. Of the ones that would share it, which was most of them.
When I worked at USWest, two of them aske me to attend a service at the building (yes, IN USWest headquarters) about homosexuality. The message was delivered by a homosexual pastor and I was able to shoot holes in his biblically based suppport for homosexual relationships large enough to drive a truck through.
Their arguments only work on those with a cursory understanding of the bible.
Intel supports gay rights!
I never said I was 100% free. But I am more free from their influence than most.
Good for you
Will minimize use on Amazon, but probably couldn't totally avoid it. More's the petty.
Do you have any idea what you are proposing?
I'm a Linux user at home. MS doesn't get my money any more.
What's so hard to believe? The only one I have to use is Microsoft. The first time I saw the Kindle commercial, I deleted my Kindle software. I haven't shopped at any of those stores in years. Don't drink. Can't stand Martha or Paula. As if there aren't millions of other stores out there.
Yep...I guess that means my Freudian skirt is too short. :)
RE: I’m a Linux user at home. MS doesn’t get my money any more.
I wonder what Operating System FR uses for its servers...
They’re Nix based, as I recall.
Back during the first campaign, Paula promised to have on both Dem and GOP runner’s wives. She lied. She only had on Moo and she was on at least twice. That was my last straw with her. Before that was her not stepping down from Smithfield hams when they got caught hiring illegals. IRC, there was more than one sweep and she’s still their spokesperson. She doesn’t even take off all her germ infested rings when she cooks.
Truthfully, we need to strengthen TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE, because look at the divorce rates.

Make sure your Linux based computer does not have an INTEL chip. INTEL is gay friendly and supports gay marriage.
see here:
Where I’m from, the word gay is and was an insult and often fighting words. It didn’t mean happy.
Further proof that it’s fruitless to try to avoid them. They’re everywhere.
What about Intel, Cisco, Intuit, AMD, Oracle, Sun, Symantec, TI, ViaCom, Xerox? Hope you’re not using any of their products.
RE: Where Im from, the word gay is and was an insult and often fighting words
“Gay” used to be a very happy and innocent word. In fact we used to sing it every Christmas....
DON WE NOW OUR GAY APPAREL FA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA
I agree
So what you’re saying is that I need to go live in a cabin in the forest? Preferably away from any cell towers or communications devices.
Pretty much...to stay highly principled.
