According to Wikipedia’s “List of living supercentenarians”, there are 10 people in the world still alive who were born in the 1800s.

According to that list, there are 57 people now alive who are 110 or older. 20 of the 57 are Japanese. Of the 49 oldest, 3 are men and 46 are women. The 14 oldest people in the US are all women. The 15th-oldest, who was born the day before President McKinley died, is James McCoubrey, an immigrant who was born in Newfoundland (which did not become part of Canada until he was 48 years old).

What is the Japanese secret? Green tea? Sushi? Sake? Kobe beef? Taking lots of baths?
