Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of former President John F. Kennedy, is close to being announced as the next United States ambassador to Japan, according to people familiar with the appointment process.
The vetting of Ms. Kennedy by the White House is almost complete, and an appointment could be announced in the coming weeks, along with the names of several other choices for high-profile diplomatic posts. Bloomberg News and The Washington Post first reported that Ms. Kennedy was under consideration.
Ms. Kennedy was an early supporter of President Obama, offering forceful backing as he battled Hillary Rodham Clinton for the Democratic nomination in the 2008 presidential election. She also served as a co-chairwoman of Mr. Obamas 2012 re-election campaign.

Seems like a punched ticket to me.
Just another way to DISS an ally.
Just another inbred, brain-dead Kennedy. Our Japanese allies should be justifiably outraged.
Interesting that NY Times just lays it out there - this is political payback.
Where does 0bumble look after he’s scraped the bottom of the barrel?
Except it will last alot longer.
I can just imagine what she’ll say. “ Like, you know, this is, like, you know, sooo cool ‘cause, you know, I really, like, like sushi.”
The next thing you know they will give an ambassadorship to Shirley Temple.
More clowns raiding the till before there is nothing left worth having...
I guess she needs a payday... and her buddy “O” can do that for her.
Never fear. She is just an ornament.
How do I get an ambassadorship to some silly country in europe?
Shirley Temple is intelligent and talented.
You know, I think she will make a good ambassador, you know, and stuff like that, you know, like until she gets appointed to something better and stuff. /s
Not all that sure how talented she is as she had not done a film in 64 years.
Her appointments to various ambassadorships were based on here celebrity status, just as Caroline Kennedy’s would be ambassadorship.
“How do I get an ambassadorship to some silly country in europe?”
You bundle ten, maybe 20 million dollars for your favorite presidential candidate and if that candidate wins, you may be selected to be ambassador to some low risk nation.
She’s, like, talented, ya know...
Hey Timber...Not specific to you, but I’m not familiar with posting to this site.
Not surprised AT ALL that the royal Kennedy name is being bestowed yet another placement within the royal court of corruption/graft/fraud and elitist ‘opportunity’-:)
Please have a look at the link I provide?
The author of the blog I provide reference to is not only brilliant, she is a true advocate of authentic human Liberty.
The real deal and smart in a way that puts the ‘ministry of truth’ to abysmal shame.

In case you are not familiar...
The Eccles Building that houses the headquarters of the Federal Reserve in Washington, D.C. is named after him.
Please read Finem respice? (Latin for ‘consider the end’)
My God, when the Dems were touting her as a possible Senator it quickly became apparent that she could barely string two intelligent words together. What an embarrassment this will be to our Japanese partners—especially with the possibility of the North Korea situation escalating.
Well, I guess she’s a Kennedy so she must be entitled.
I feel sure that she probably speaks fluent Japanese.

You do know that some former actors were intelligent, well-spoken and had common sense—such as Ronald Reagan and, yes, Shirley Temple, don’t you?
If you’ve ever seen Caroline Kennedy in a situation where she had to think on her feet, you’d realize that she was a bubble head. And if you’ve ever seen Shirley Temple Black do the same you’d realized that Kennedy could never begin to come close to filling Temple-Black’s shoes.
Just because Jim Carrey is an idiot, that doesn’t mean that all actors are also idiots.
