Free Republic is funded solely by donations contributed by the people who love and use it. We are beholden to no outsiders, no sugar daddies, no corporate or government string pullers. It's just you and me, baby, grassroots conservatives against the Marxists and big government statists and RINOs!!
Please keep those donations coming in to keep FR alive and on the air. Make it a monthly if you can. We have some very generous FReeper sponsors kicking in an extra $10 for each new monthly that signs up.

The Great State of Alabama
***
"Alabama is a state located in the southeastern region of the United States. It is bordered by Tennessee to the north, Georgia to the east, Florida and the Gulf of Mexico to the south, and Mississippi to the west. Alabama is the 30th-most extensive and the 23rd-most populous of the 50 United States. Alabama ranks second in the area of its inland waterways...
Following World War II, Alabama experienced growth as the economy of the state transitioned from agriculture to diversified interests in heavy manufacturing, mineral extraction, education, and technology. In addition, the establishment or expansion of multiple military installations, primarily those of the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force, added to state jobs."source: Wikipedia

"In my humble opinion, those who come to engage in debates of consequence, and who challenge accepted wisdom, should expect to be treated badly.
Nonetheless, they must stand undaunted. That is required. And, that should be expected.
For, it is bravery that is required to secure freedom."~Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas

Small monthly donor question:
I don’t want to disrupt my donations, but I am ditching my MasterCard... What’s the best way to transfer my FR monthly donation to another card?
Thank you very much, HeadOn. The best way is to use our secure server link to set up a new monthly with your new credit card info and we will delete the old one.

The Great State Of Texas
***
"Texas has a "low taxes, low services" reputation. According to the Tax Foundation, Texans' state and local tax burdens rank among the lowest in the nation, 7th lowest nationally; state and local taxes cost $3,580 per capita, or 8.4% of resident incomes.
Texas is one of seven states that lack a state income tax. Instead, the state collects revenue from a state property tax and sales tax, which is charged at the rate of 6.25%, but local taxing jurisdictions (cities, counties, special purpose districts, and transit authorities) may also impose sales and use tax up to 2% for a total maximum combined rate of 8.25%. Texas is a "tax donor state"; in 2005, for every dollar Texans paid to the federal government in federal income taxes, the state received approximately $0.94 in benefits.
In 2010, Site Selection Magazine ranked Texas as the most business-friendly state in the nation, in part because of the state's three-billion-dollar Texas Enterprise Fund. Texas has the joint-highest number of Fortune 500 company headquarters in the United States, along with California.
In 2010, there were 346,000 millionaires in Texas, constituting the second-largest population of millionaires in the nation. "source: Wikipedia
