Even if Holmes is convicted of capital murder, it will likely be decades of appeals before any justice will be done. The death penalty would be more meaningful if after reasonable appeals it could be actually carried out. With our current system his execution in say 2030 wouldn’t have much impact as the horrendous crime he committed will have been long forgotten.
Yup. That’s exactly why George Brauchler is doing the victims’ families a disservice.
It takes decades to execute a murderer - and they can die well before their execution date any way of natural causes.
He’s just inflicting more pain and uncertainty on people who need it least.
I’d have told him as long as Holmes never gets out of prison, its good enough for me.
