Legislation pads a politician’s resume.

The more legislation they “produce,” the more they can cite as “accomplishments” in their campaign commercials.

I almost voted for Kinky Friedman for Gov because I figured he would be pretty benign.
He would appoint Willie Nelson as energy czar, they would sit around wearing cowboy hats playing guitars and smoke doobies and cigars, but pass no legislation through the Texas house.

I voted for Perry in the end because it was clear that voting for Kinky would give Bill White a better shot, and I could not abide Bill White.

I did the right thing.
Perry has performed well since that election.
