i think airliners, and several coordinated for TOT at that, are problematic at best since after the first one goes off, all flights will be immediately grounded to the closest airport or turned away if they are from out of the country

he'll only get ONE chance, he has to make it count and do as much damage as he possibly can

that and what airliners can he use? it's not like Air Koryo has scheduled flights to the US or do you mean smuggling nukes on to other carriers?

Part of the work i used to do involved coming up with "unthinkable" scenarios. We would start out with "How would you ....? and go from there. I can see several different methods

We don't know what technology the Russians or Chinese are swapping with the NK's or Iran.

Shielding a nuke is difficult but not impossible. Label a couple farm equipment put them on the civilian equivalent of a C-130 and send them over the heartland. Put a couple more on container ships an put one at the Port of LA and the other the Port Authority of NY. Send the 5th on an Air France in to Reagan Int.

You would have a window of about 1/2 hour from the first explosion to the grounding of all air traffic.
