Germany, Austria and Russia did not survive the 20th Century in any real sense. The people and culture today are completely and traumatically transformed.
Rome did not survive the barbarian invasions, except in name.
I think you can add Britain and France to your list.
We will not recover “America” in our life time, if ever. There have been no rollbacks of any federal or state agencies or freedom impacting legislation. The Constitution is not honored and used as the basis of our freedom any longer.
I am not giving up. I have granddaughters I want to experience freedom, not governmental dependence.

The pResident, and his handlers, are not heading us toward Eurosocialism, they are heading us toward Stalinistic Russia. IMHO. I will not go to a gulag.
