Not really (Unless you follow the Wilsonian belief of the Presidency in regards to SS not Active Duty specialist), but that is a different topic.
If one dime of public resources were used in this time of sequestration then these trips would be considered "waste and abuse" under, fraud, waste, and abuse.
Military readiness is suffering but we use public resources to jet-set the family of a guy who won a popularity contest? Outstanding priorities we have/promote in a country that is $16 tril. in debt.
