Test of the CCI Stinger, 32 gr copper-plated hollowpoint, from the Ruger SR22 handgun. The SR22 has a 3.5" barrel. Will the short barrel affect performance of what is typically known as a varmint load for rifles? There is also a "bonus" about halfway through the test.
BTW, this ammo was purchased during the "shortage" of early 2013, from the Nashville Armory. First "Stingers" I had seen in several months.

The CCI Stinger is a vicious little round.
A new one. tnoutdoors9 does a follow up.
One of our (lost in a boating accident/ loaned to a vagrant relative) pistols is the SIG Mosquito which fires this round quite well.
over 1500 FPS out of the barrel, and great expansion/ wound cavity results.
Quite the loud POP when you fire it, but nuthin’ in recoil.
That it is for sure. Those who still imagine that a .22 is only fit for killing squirrels need to see a demo of the Stinger. I guarantee one round in the vitals will make Shrek stop and think.
Video is clear that Stingers are not for handguns.
it was developed as a varmint round out of rifles.
a .22 pistol with anything in it will not stop a bath salts crazed attacker.
Does the CCI Stinger work in any .22 LR (I have an old Remington rifle among many others)?
I got Mrs. Slim a S&W 351 PD, an 11 oz. J-frame 7 shot .22 magnum. Hornady CD ammo clock out at 1000 fps with good expansion and 90% weight retention.
Plus, if it doesn’t stop the guy, he’ll be deaf and on fire.
If your rifle says “.22LR” on it, it will fire Stingers.
Any gun beats no gun in every test...
Good choice with one exception, 22 WMR is not available, ANYWHERE.
:-(
When I got the gun I also got 500 rounds, about 6 months ago.
I’m even well supplied in .32-20 and .300 Savage.
:)
Oh it’ll stop them, just not very quick. Unless you put one behind their ear.
I think what you are saying is that it also shoots CCI Stingers...is that right?
****Video is clear that Stingers are not for handguns.***
This is true. They do not have enough recoil to work in an auto pistol or rifle.
Bolt action is best for them.
If it is like my father’s Remington, nothing will work in it.
Not too long ago I got a Taurus Tracker 991 9 shot revolver in 22 mag. It is a hoot to shoot and very accurate. Also got 1200 rounds of Winchester PDX1 hollow point 40 grain ammo.
Cheap and fun to shoot!
But that was a long time ago.
It is my Dad's weapon and I would love for it to work (he passes last summer)...
Cool, but I’ll refrain from stating my opinion of Taurus (perhaps it was just my bad luck).
Granted, I am a revolver snob.
tnoutdoors9 has great videos. I am subscribed to his channel.
If you want to know what kind of ammo will devastate jello according to the FBI protocols, he da man.
My favorite is the vid of Winchester Ranger .45ACP “T” ammo. That “T” means “Talon”. They have re-marketed the infamous Black Talon round with a much more innocuous name. It works just like the original and it is devastating. Just don’t tell the libtard hoplophobes or they’ll get their panties in a wad...
