On Wednesday afternoon, the Des Moines Register published a map that shows which public schools in Iowa have no security.
(See Link for Map)
The graphic is also interactive. When you click on a specific dot, you are given very detailed information about the location of the school and if it has a security office on campus.

Ya can't serve papers on an elephant. [paraphrasing John Wayne.]
I'd rather be an elephant instead of a democRAT.
If you read the article it talks about having an alternative to having an active duty police officer be your security detail at the school.
I can see the issue from both sides of the equation - I was an accounting director for a school district before I became a teacher.
From the accountant side, I can tell you that a police officer will cost you the officers salary plus uniform allowances, pension contribution, car allowance - or in other word upward of $75 to 80k per year. A security guard, who is an employee of the disrict would only cost $40 to 45K fully loaded rate per year. The security officers have the ability to arrest and detail students and intruders, as well as carry guns. It is more financially responsible.
From the teacher side (in an inner city high school) I saw situations where security and police presence were paid more than teachers - how pathetic was that. I was nice to have security there at all times, but felt too much like a prison.
Thank God for the Cathoic high school who hired me out of the mess. We have no security or police presence AND we don’t need one. Now that is teaching is supposed to be like.
Sounds like they are trying to make news........if anything happens the blood will be on their hands
“...Another reason to have sanity tests for Democrats and liberals, and plenty of padded cells for them....”
None would pass these communists are literally the walking dead, mentally speaking. It’s a disease with no known cure. They feed on living flesh.
But, an armed security person, an employee of G4, formerly Wackenhut, would be much cheaper and cost no benefits.
The Register should also print the names of schools with the “Gun Free Zone” signs. These are a real deterrent to gun crimes ya know! /s off
To #18: Enough did vote for Comrade Harkin. That’s “too many” in my opinion.
I looks like it has been pulled.
wow
And they have either embedded themselves or taken over most media outlets even in Conservative states and communities.
If this results in unguarded schools finally getting their acts together, great. If the worst happens, it’ll mean so many lawsuits the ‘news’paper folds.
Thanks callthemlikeyouseethem.
yup.. they want more dead kids killed by a nutjob.
works for them on two levels.
1. gun control
2. very late term abortion
The Des Moines Register is basically Iowa’s version of the NYT. I would expect nothing less than crap from them
“The regime is paving the way for another school massacre to FORWARD their agenda. Sometimes killing a country requires a little nudging.”
I believe there are libs that wouldn’t bat an eye at sacrificing a few kids to further their agenda. I honestly believe this.
Let’s put up a webpage showing the details security systems of newspaper offices
Every time their principles are used to further a movement, millions wind up dead. China, Russia, Cambodia, East Germany, Laos, Cuba, VietNam, Bulgaria, North Korea, Romania, Ethiopia, Hungary, Zimbabwe... a handful of children is nothing compared to a quarter billion souls in the past 90 years.
The libs are eagerly awaiting the next massacre.
What welcome crystal clarity in those orders. Now reading and appreciating your link — thanks. Hehheh, send in the marines, way to get ‘er done!

No, it doesn’t have to cost an arm and leg. I know of several schools in our area who gave the Sheriff a room near the front door of the school. The Sheriff stations his day shift on-duty deputy in that school “office”. The deputy has to be at his desk anyway, so he is there doing his work and keeping an armed presence for the school. No added expense, except maybe an extra phone line.
