I wonder who libertarians would chose if they could only pick between a real conservative or an extreme liberal candidate?
Please stop wondering and browse to a site that can provide a quick primer. You will quickly find that Our Founding Fathers were libertarians.
This small book is free in .pdf format: Libertarianism In One Lesson by David Bergland. I sat next to David Bergland, the 1984 LP Presidential candidate, at a dinner several years ago. There is an updated version of the book for sale at "Advocates for Self-Government."
I am not a Libertarian Party member and do not agree with some of their positions, such as open borders or unilateral withdrawal of all overseas military presence, but I do agree with many other libertarian positions that are based on reason and common sense.
Much to it's credit I have noted that in the years since 9/11 they have modified the open borders position and in spite of this belief they state "we support control over the entry into our country of foreign nationals who pose a credible threat to security, health or property."
