AS to getting a job there? Could be hard to get a job there. As in most countries, I think your credentials will be important. You have to have a “kennatallar” that is not the right spelling but it is something a kin to a SSN in order to even get a cell phone.
Our son in law was born there, and when he and his family moved there after they lost their business and farm in VA 3 years ago, they just went there...they did own some summer homes up in the West Fjords as Butch had the “Kennatallar” number issued when he was born..but they did not have resident alien documents...and Michelle almost got deported back to the US. It took forever to get the paper work and they had to have FBI background checks etc. There is more to moving there than just packing up.
Why are you interested in Iceland? Have you been there before? Our daughter will be here in about 3weeks so I can get her on line and she can tell you what more you might need. Maybe even do skype.. Tell me more about why and where in Iceland you are interested in being.
I will second that.Righ
t now it is about 124ISK to the 1.00. Good going in, bad coming out...
Yes it is expensive!!!!!
I can pronounce it but most folks there who can’t say if just called it EFJ. It is really 3 words all run together.
Try Nord Dakota. Ain’t bad.
“You have to look really hard to find the beautiful women during the 10 months of Winter.”
I spoke with a lifeguard at the beach in Stanley Park, Vancouver, BC.
He said they had 3 seasons: July, August and Winter.
It was funny listening to the news people try to pronounce it.
The translation for EFJ is Island Mountain Glacier..
So why are you thinking of moving here? Do you have residency permit or an access to one? If you are not an EEA citizen you need to have secured a job before coming here.
But yeah, now is the time to move or invest in Iceland, a new center right government is probably around the corner and with it solutions to the dreadful mishandling of the government and economy by the socialistic parties so we can look forward to better days soon. And if you invest here now you can get Icelandic kronas through the Central bank on a huge discount.
