When they get older, I certainly hope they will step up and do their best to disallow a passed-out drunk girl from getting carried away by drunken assholes with history of this sort of thing.

Back around 1980 when I was 30, I spent a weekend with my buddy at his family's cottage on a small lake north of Detroit. We partied hard at a bar on Saturday night then went out for breakfast. After leaving the restaurant, we saw a girl walking along the highway and stopped to offer her a ride. She accepted and got in the backseat and it was apparent she was drunk on her butt.

Well, she kept asking one of us to join her back there but I wouldn't have anything to do with that and when we spotted a cop car, I demanded my buddy signal him over where we then turned the gal over to them.

You just don't know what can come of a situtation like that and I sure as hell didn't want to be accused in a potential rape case.

As it turns out, when the cop looked at my drivers license, he recognized my name and told me that he was a student at the Detroit Police Academy when my dad was an instructor there.......

Each situation is different. Put yourself in that same situation but you see some other guys, whom you know have been involved with totally sketchy sexual assault of drunk girls before, throw her into their car before you try to help her.

Then you see the cop drive by.

Would you have flagged him down? That’s the question here. Personally, I’m confident I would have. (But I’m in my 40’s and have a wealth of experience. The kids in this story are in high school with a whole different set of things going on. I get that.)
