Doctor Raoul died Saturday of a rare form of cancer. He was 58.
Raoul's family contacted us this morning to see if they could find out more about his activities as an activist.
This is such a shock. His family is looking for photos and stories about him.
He is and always will be a Free Republic icon.
He kind of fell off the face of the earth about 2 or 3 years ago now. All attempts we made to reach him failed.
If you have photos please contact me. Please feel free to post stories and I will make sure the family sees this thread.
Albion Wilde, thank you for this wonderful eulogy and for pinging me to it, he was a true and caring FReeper and good person!
He was my FReeper Friend and will be missed.
Rest in peace.
Beautiful eulogy, Albion.
Everyone’s sharing their stories and pics has made this loss a bit more bearable. What a great (and well deserved) tribute yours and the others are to Raoul. I am sure his family will hold these remembrances close to their hearts.
Deepest condolences to his family. RIP, DR.
Thanks for that great post.
Met Doctor Raoul at pro-gun rally in Bethlehem Pa. in the mid ‘90s. Passionate man, glad he was on our side. God be with him and his family.
Race, I love all your photos. Thanks for sharing them. Deep condolences...
He was wonderful. Thank you so much, Albion.
Sent u 16 pics private e-mail.
Post away...
Wow. What a great post. Thank you for pinging me to it.
RIP, Doctor Raoul.

Bravo, my friend, bravo. Your description fits Raoul perfectly!
I hope those who never met him get a flavor. But it is only on small part, like looking at a mosaic, and this whole thread paints a bigger picture. Amazing, isn’t it? A real wake, with many people who never met him or barely met him (like myself) who he managed to touch in some way.
Mostly facilitated by the Internet in general, and Free Republic in particular.
Taxman, sorry to have called you with the news. You were the first that I thought of after the call from his son. We spent so much time together working with the balloons and our number one conversation was always the good Doctor. We would laugh so hard about the things he would do to the libs, his outfits, etc. Undoubtedly the most powerful conservative protestor I have ever seen. He brought forth the belief that Conservatives MUST protest in order to get attention. He was so right. Otherwise we all agree with what is being stuffed down our throats by our capitulation.
This is a rough one. Love that guy and missed his antics. Thanks for the post abner. ((HUGS))
Roger Wilco.
Thanks Albion Wilde.
