The article develops the idea that not only the party, but the conservative movement itself is split.

That’s one of the deep complexities that troubles Mr. Limbaugh.

If only, if only the problem were simple enough for, as Reagan said, conservatives to retake the party. But Reagan’s three-legged stool of economic, foreign policy and social conservatives is collapsing. The libertarian strain of conservativism, plus the usual RINOS, are signaling that traditional values must be dropped.

Then there’s the push to normalize those here illegally without bothering to SECURE THE BORDER. That is, lip service is paid to securing it, but the policy of refusing to consider what to do about those here illegally until the border is fixed, is going the way of traditional values.

Limbaugh ends by saying these ideas, which transcend the Republican party itself and now threaten the entire conservative movement as Reagan structured it, are a death wish.

Not just to Republicans, but to the conservative movement itself.

That’s why bothering to read the article is worthwhile. What Limbaugh is saying is, the Republican party is more beside the point now than it is the main point. The main point is conservativism itself and whither it goes...

From the article:

“Maybe it’s just from where I’m sitting, but it appears to me that momentum is building among Republicans to capitulate on the issue of same-sex marriage, no matter what negative consequences might result from society’s abandonment of support for traditional marriage. Likewise, it seems that many Republicans are determined to surrender on the immigration issue on the naive hope that Republicans will instantly shed the ogre factor and be on equal footing to compete for the Hispanic vote.”

That is how it looks to me, too!

I am a fiscal conservative, but how many in the GOP want to see the Federal budget CUT by 10% next year? Every member of the GOP-E believes a 1% cut would be draconian...they would melt at the idea of making the 2014 budget 15-20% smaller than the 2013 budget!

And ultimately, my values define me - my social values. How I think we ought to live and treat others. The Founders would recognize my values, and share many of them. Current America rejects them, and me. I think the solution is to EXPLAIN why those values work, while also praying for revival (and in truth, without spiritual revival, America will rapidly become something I loath).

But no one is the GOP gives a rat’s rear end about what I believe, or what I care about. I voted straight GOP every 2 years for the last 12 (except 2004, when I was stationed in Korea and the state of Washington didn’t bother to get me a ballot until Dec 2004). And in return, I’ve got...NOTHING!

The GOP-E wants to piss on my grave, and they’d like me to die and get in that grave ASAP. They lick the genitals of their democrat friends, and save all their hatred for social conservative. That is because ultimately the question comes down to, “Do you believe in a righteous God, or not?”

They do not. I do. We have no basis for reconciliation.

It is split on probably more than one issue. For me it's gay marriage. I don't want to be part of a Republican party that wants the gay vote in order to win fiscal issues.
