My damn dog would start licking his face...and wag his tail off in hopes for a *cookie* treat and pick up a tennis ball LOL! What a cutie!
Hubby and I have pretty much decided ours are the same way.
The only way they would be a deterrent to a burglar is if the guy tripped over 'em coming through the door. :-)
