That sound a situation where no force would be too accessive.
However, another neighbor, Carla Carney, believes that the use of force was excessive .... You should protect your house, but if he was shot once, why continue to keep shooting?Folks, I think we have an Obama Voter here. Carla is dumber than a stick.
(no offense to sticks)
You must be a helluva shot under pressure. I'd aim for the chest or the hips...much bigger targets. A good shot to the hip will not only drop the perp (regardless of what drugs he or she may be high on), but will help them bleed out in a matter of minutes.
I always scrunch my face skeptically when I read about a home intruder loudly kicking / beating down a front frealing door. Really? Who does that?Who does that, don't know. All types of potential dead guys I suspect. But it does happen, like it did to me when I lived in Chi with my mom (right before I got married in '75).
Luckily -- for him and I -- I finally *convinced* him he was at the wrong door and had the wrong place. But if he came through our door he'd be dead (I had six 158gr JHP Super Vels waiting for him).
Needless to say it was an intense 'few' minutes. That SOB was determined to get in and at someone.
Aren't they all? I think that's why we love 'em so much!
*WATCH OUT....I cant control the dog!*.....they scatter like fleas.
ROFLMAO! Smart tactic!
Our subdivision is in a really rural area, so we've only had 2 visits.
The first one I was caught unawares, and after a perfectly polite conversation of repeated "no, thank you"s, they left.
The second time, I just let hubby answer the door...........
naked.

Crude, but effective! LOL!
LOL!
I wonder how many neighbors they had to interview before someone answered with anything other than;
"Shoot his ass daid!"
I know people from Oklahoma. They don't suffer fools lightly!
The 'reporters' prolly searched driveways looking for a Volvo :-)
I did have time to spend on the pallet I used for a front porch playing a little banjo. And making wine from the cactus pears and wild plums. With the proper skillsets and mindset, it's not that bad. It certainly isn't the same as a suburban life-style, but I enjoyed it.

ROFLOL .....wish you were in my neighborhood! :D
We’d have these people turned into pillars of salt in no time.
Thanks for reminding me to inflate the air in my tires today. :)
If you fancy yourself Dick Proenneke well and good. I still think many would crack under the pressure. Ever read *Into the Wild*? Same outcome.
This is a quote from a neighbor (in the article). It reminded me of what I was taught when I took classes from an NRA instructor. He said you keep firing until the perp drops, then you stop. You had better stop at that point lest you find yourself in deep doo-doop with the law.
He still had ammo left. Keep shooting.
Word.
I just completed six hours of simunitions live fire training in a shoot house - home defense scenarios only, some in light, some in dark, all shoot/don't shoot decisions, scored by hits on me/hits on them.
This was fantastic, fantastic training - everything you say above is absolutely true.
The SPEED with which these things actually go down is unbelievable, and so is the tremendous danger of shooting someone who doesn't need to be shot.
Google "simunitions" and your location - you will never think about these scenarios in quite the same way.
Hi yourself.
I would also protect my family and myself, with my .357 S&W, and keep my Ruger LC9 as my backup. Seems to work for me....
I tired using liberal/socialists for targets, but they yell and wiggle too much!!
An elderly man, from Meridian, Mississippi, was going up to bed, when his wife told him that he'd left the light on in the garden shed, which she could see from the bedroom window.
George opened the back door to go turn off the light, but saw that there were people in the shed stealing things.
He phoned the police, who asked "Is someone in your house?"
He said "No," but some people are breaking into my garden shed and stealing from me.
Then the police dispatcher said "All patrols are busy. You should lock your doors and an officer will be along when one is available"
George said, "Okay."
He hung up the phone and counted to 30. Then he phoned the police again.
"Hello, I just called you a few seconds ago because there were people stealing things from my shed. Well, you don't have to worry about them now because I just shot and killed them both. The dogs are eating them right now." and he hung up.
Within five minutes, six Police Cars, a SWAT Team, a helicopter, two Fire Trucks, a paramedic, and an ambulance showed up at the Phillips' residence, and caught the burglars red-handed.
One of the Policemen said to George, "I thought you said that you'd shot them!"
George said, "I thought you said there was nobody available!"
Yes I remember those two articles, I may have even posted them. I do post a lot of that type of articles.
My questions were just to start a debate about the correct number of times to shoot. For me, it is until the bad person is down and still. I will keep some rounds as reserve/backup as some will try to fake incapacity. I do not think they will be moving after a few hits with either a "Power Ball" .357 Mag 100 grain round, or as my backup a 9mm Remington Golden Saber 124 grain BJHP.
What say you, "old timer"?
Correct, all one should say to the authorities is "I shot in the direction of the intruder".
did not mean to attack you but we have so many trolls on here whio pretend they;re conservatives only for them to push their pro homosexual marriage, anti gun agenda etc especially hte turd poking agenda this week because of what decision could happen on marriage.
Yes I;d shoot the head or heart and I have hollow rounds
A poster that might deter break-ins would say ... "The door you're getting ready to kick in is locked for your protection, not mine".
