That is an intimidating light, I think that in a sustained period of no electricity, that people seeing that used for a few minutes, a few times a week, would see it as a major security asset.

Not being able to depend on darkness, even at hundreds of yards, destroys the security of darkness that would normally be able to be counted on, at most homes, you can approach right up to the building without any fear of being lit up since the owner’s flashlight is only able to find you when you are very close.

I have three, and two sets of batteries for each light. My wife thought I was nuts, but because I could write them off for my business, she relented.

When the dog barks, the beam gets turned on...

We started doing that to reassure the dog (and see what the different sounding barks meant: challenge versus greeting, mainly), who would bark at things 200 yards and more out from the house, but find that it permits us to see what's out there any time.

At very close range, it is a weapon in the dark--that much light in the face will effectively blind someone for a few seconds at least. No idea exactly what it would do to NVG, but I figure it'd shut them down or mess up the image.
