It’s amazing how much of our behavior - especially the bad kind (or what God calls SIN) - we like to excuse with memes like “we were born with it” and “it’s all genetics” - truth is - it’s all a choice - we just don’t want to take responsibility for the results of said bad behavior - we prefer to play it easy and play the victim instead. Sad.

And it is true that exercising won’t completely counter the effects of the obesity genes, it will dramatically reduce their impact. If these individuals denied care were priced out of health insurance or paying out of pocket I guarantee the intractable health effects spilling over into society would virtually disappear overnight.

I don't disagree with any of what you are saying.

But that doesn't matter, the point is that a product is being paid for and the service is not being provided.

Compound that fact with the fact that the government is the 'provider.'

Compound those two facts by the fact that the 'provider' is REQUIRING you to purchase the service.

The private system at least made one pay for the cost of their lifestyle choices.

What you fail to understand is that your weight is rarely the consequence of your volition. It is much more controlled by our glands, which don’t excrete less or more based upon our willpower.

This doesn’t mean exercise and self control aren’t consequential, but judging our fellow man based upon BMI is ignorant at best.

There are reasons why those over 55 trend with higher BMI, cholesterol, sometimes higher blood sugar levels, use more medications. It isn’t all due to volition.
