A Boeing spokesperson confirmed on Friday that the company will lay off 800 workers, as well as reduce its overall workforce by 2,000 or more in 2013.
According to a company spokesperson, the layoffs will be primarily of workers in the 787 and 747 post-assembly facilities, all machinists, in Everett. The additional 2,000 to 2,300 positions will be elimated through attrition and transfers.
No employees have been notified of layoffs yet.
Sad. You think most are D’s? Elections have consequences.
Sounds like a good decision.Move production to South Carolina where skilled workers do an honest day’s work for an honest day’s pay.
I dont care if the union scum lose all they have!
I've just read about how our economy is in the midst of a "strong recovery".

Makes sense to lay off the folks finishing out the 787 if you can’t finish them out until the fixes are approved.
I imagine that is what they are doing. Although to give the union workers SOME credit - they just voted the other week to accept their latest contract without going on strike.
Not like in 2008 a few months after the stock market crashed and they went on strike.
Oh, wait, here it is from the Seattle Slimes:
Forced celebration of sodomy won, too: 53.7% to 46.3%.
Moral decline will be followed by economic decline. You voted for it, Washington. Enjoy.
Time for Boing to open an “open shop” plant in the south.
Good. Obama’s redistribution continues.
This is telling. They like D’s and tax levies.

And Snohomish county gave Zero 57% of the vote.
I think if you are a machinist in Everett you just found out.
Let the scum suffer!
If you work for Boeing and you’re a conservative machinist, you have my empathy.
If you are an Obama voting democrat, I am LMAO @you. “Your chickens are.....coming home.....to roost”.
800 in that Democrat enclave???
Is that all???
Do I hear 1000???
going once .... going twice ...
Is this because of Defense cuts or Dreamliner problems or both?
Moreover, these were people who worked - something we have a shortage of in this country.
Shame is an appropriate word to use here.
Washington State, you deserve this, all of you who voted for the Failure. Chumps!
