The word Hispanic has no meaning because it could mean a person who is 100% Aztec, or Mayan (from Central America) or West African (from the Caribbean) or Italian or German (from Argentina, Uruguay,.Paraguay). Or mixtures of any of the above with Spaniards.
As an informed observer of Spanish-Caribbean culture -which has about ten distinct classifications of race, covering the spectrum from black to.white, to me the baby in the photo looks like what they call jabado, a category on non-white who are often born with light skin and fair hair which darkens over time. I have relatives by marriage like this. The nose is the give away, which remains negroid. There is a refrain from a song that refers to this: y tu abuela, donde esta? (where’s your grandma?) said to a person trying to pass for white, reminding him that he has a black grandmother.
So then what box do you think he checked on his census form???
Black, white, or hispanic???
